My indicator isn’t plotting correctly in NinjaTrader

If your MQ Momentum seems to be showing incorrect values on your charts, it may be that the indicator needs to be refreshed on your chart. This can happen when you update your indicator and the update has changed the order of inputs or of plots.

For example, here’s how MQ Momentum was appearing after updating the indicator where some plots were changed in the code.

This happens because the settings for the indicator were retained, and when the new indicator was applied to the chart, the old plot values are plotting in the wrong plot, creating the unusual or confusing appearance.

When you suspect that the underlying plots have changed, you can resolve the issue by removing the indicator from the chart and clicking the Apply and OK buttons to close the indicator dialog box. Then add the same indicator back onto the chart.

In the case of MQ Momentum shown above, here’s how it appeared once it was again added to the chart:

That’s how MQ Momentum is intended to appear.

This can happen to any NT indicator when updates are made to an indicator that’s already on a chart. When in doubt, it’s relatively simple to remove/re-add the indicator to a chart when you suspect that an NT indicator is not plotting correctly.
